Description: Make a quilt top with Mindy! Our local quilting expert will walk you through the steps of sewing a quilt top from start to finish. You'll learn about choosing and preparing fabrics for quilting, cutting fabrics, following a quilt pattern, and assembling a quilt top. This class is for ages 16 and up.
Prior skills recommended: Prior experience with any type of machine sewing is recommended but not required. Before class you should know how to thread and use a sewing machine.
Materials needed:
- Your own sewing machine, or you can use one of Harmony's! Pick your preferred option below.
- Thread
- Scissors
- Rotary cutter
- Cutting mat
- Ruler
- Seam ripper
- Penelope Handmade's free Irish Chain pattern
- Required fabric (see pattern for more info, and Mindy will give you more instruction during the first session of class)
When: This class takes place on three Saturdays:
- May 25 from 2:30-5:30 pm.
- June 1 from 2:30-5:30 pm.
- June 8 from 10:30 am-1:30 pm.
Prep work: Before class begins you'll need to:
- Download (and print, if desired) quilt pattern
- You can purchase fabric ahead of time if you'd like, but Mindy will go over fabric choices during the first session of class so you may want to wait.
Class Policies: Materials that you buy in person at Harmony for your class will be 20% off. Class fees are not refundable or exchangeable for any reason. Classes with 2 or fewer sign ups will be canceled, and if the class is canceled students will be notified via email 2 days before the class begins. All classes are held in person at Harmony, at 275 E. Center St, Provo.
